Woke to cloudy skies and about a 5 hour drive ahead of us.  Lucky for the frog....he was gone today so no road trip for him.

Rained on and off all day....most of the drive was on 1-90...more corn and soyabeans.  When we did go on to the secondary road....it was raining and there was no need to stop at any of the towns.


Arrived at the state park just East of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Not busy here today so there was no problem getting ourselves a nice spot for 2 nights.

The area is known for its colourful red quartzite pinnacles and formations that follow the Split Rock River.  Really pretty....we really had to watch Gracie as we discovered those tiny cactus in the rocks similar to at home.  Would never have thought that here as it is nowhere hear a desert.

And finished the night with the most fireflies we have seen so far...and they are literally right outside the RV. AWESOME!!!

Oh....and when you travel you learn little tricks from people from other places....Apparently here you don't need to waste your time making kindling....or meticulously making a little teepee fire to build some awesome "marshmallow" coals....this is how you do it...

1. Throw the biggest...wettest log in the firepit
2.  Douse it with the biggest can of fire-starter....
3.  Throw a match on it...
4.  Watch it explode...

5. And you can enjoy hours and hours of country smoke!!!
6.  And your neighbours can enjoy it also...What FUN!!!

    You are wearing jeans... George is wearing shorts... and where is Joe?? Did he break off on his own or did he finally say, "no more pictures!!!" Hopefully the weather will improve for the remainder of your trip. Back to work in less than two weeks... they will be so happy to see you.

      Yes...jeans....it was a sad day. George will never wear them until fall. We left Joe after New York...he's got more time than us...so exploring more of the USA.

It's been windy for quite some time....like weeks...this morning it's pretty calm...but they are calling for more wind in the afternoon..... Decided to ride our bikes into St. George and check it out...really small casual little beach city... More white sandy beaches....this time with lots of shells...spent a good hour shell hunting... We saw lots of crab holes in the ground...apparently they are called "ghost crabs" and they only come out at night and they are almost transparent.. Today is the day....we must leave New York....it`s been great... it`s been expensive....and it`s time to go... Gracie may have wanted to visit this place...but no Dog Spa for her... Today is also the day we will part paths with Brother Joe...we will head West....because we must....he will have another direction...we will miss him....has been a great time travelling with him. It took us almost an hour to wind our way out of Jersey City...it was raining...and I swear Roxanne had us going in circles....there was detour after detour...and some ridiculously narrow streets.....but we made it......we had no idea where we were...the skies were grey and dismal and we just seemed to be going around and around..... And then this crazy horrible sign appeared...WTF....WEST!!! What is that!!!! It wasn`t long before we left the busy streets for rolling hill of trees...it is just so green and so hilly.... It's a pretty fitting day to leave the beach...it's raining....it's still warm...but it's still raining.... Taking a ferry today instead of dealing with the traffic...won't take any time off our trip...but will take the miles off our trip...cost wise...not too sure...but if it can eliminate a few hours on the road in the city...it's worth it. This bird decided to build a nest in the busiest place ever!!! Right at the Ferry Terminal... And all along the way....Dophins.....Yay!! I will never tire of seeing them playing in the water! So before long we are on the New Jersey Turnpike.... which just means .....toll....after toll.....after toll.... and you have no idea which lane you are supposed to be in... Nightmare! Marty!!!.... You will love this....... You know all those American dimes and nickels I was saving.... Finally had a chance to use them.... Oh the look on his face when I gave him $6.00 in dimes and nickels!!!
