About a 3 hour drive today....which means 4 or 5 hours pulling the RV and stopping along the way.

It rained quite a bit today on the drive....makes it less likely to get out and check out a town when it's like that....but we did finally find George a place to have breakfast...Third times the charm.

Good food...super cheap....not sure why because we are basically out in the middle of nowhere.

Fun way to use up your wine-bottles...
...which by the way you cannot get on a Sunday..
....or from any store except a Government Liquor Store...
...which are very scarce...you cannot even buy beer at a grocery store...
..We had thought Utah was "dry"....Pennsylvania takes the prize for that one!!!

Set up camp...in the rain....and then headed out to this bridge ...
Kinzua State Park...
.....George questioned me a few times on what was so special about this place
that we came out here to see....

The Kinzua Bridge Sky Walk!

When completed during 1882, the Kinzua Bridge Viaduct was the highest railroad viaduct in the world.

Built of iron, the original viaduct was approximately 301 feet high, 2,053 feet long, and weighed 3,105,000 pounds.

By 1900, it became necessary to rebuild the entire structure with steel to accommodate heavier trains.

Freight traffic discontinued during 1959

Beginning during 1987, excursion trains used the rails.

During February 2002, engineers discovered it was no longer safe to use and banned all traffic on the bridge and made plans to re-furbish it.

On Monday, July 21, 2003, at approximately 3:15 p.m., an F1 tornado (wind speed 73 – 112 mph) struck the side of Kinzua Viaduct. Eleven towers from the center of the bridge were torn from their concrete bases and thrown to the valley floor.

And the crumpled towers still remain a the bottom.

And they placed a series of 1 inch thick glass blocks on the floor
...so that you can stand on them and see right down to the grass...

FREAKY!!!

...getting braver.....

Now this makes sense...something I would have thought of...Safety First!!!

And then they have made hiking paths down and around the base of the bridge..

Well George agreed....well worth the stop!
