This is the last day here in Ft Meyers. The RV park has been great, as the location is excellent....we have finally figured out the maze of roads....and after 4 nights here I am proud to say I have finally finished reading the "Book of Rules"....yikes!!! and also figured out we have broken several of the rules here!!!

Took the bikes to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. The toll is $6.00 for a vehicle so it does reduce some traffic on the Islands.  The Islands strive to remain quaint and close to nature. There are no traffic lights...no building is higher than 3 stories and the seperate bike paths follow alongside all thru-roads....

...and yes...more beautiful homes....no lack of them here in Florida.

One of my favourite ones...

We always try to stop at the Marinas..
there is always lots to see and we are still looking for the manatees...but not this time...

And once again so many of the homes have the screened in back yards! This one was massive.

Stopped at Sanibel Pier and Lighthouse.

If there is a pier...
there are fisherman...
but we still have not seen much being caught yet, but they are always out there.

We drove to the J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge and the Visitor Center told us the best places to see wildlife on the 4 mile wildlife drive. Love some of their artwork.

So off we went and it wasn't long before we saw our first gator!
He was pretty relaxed in the muddy water....only lifted his head a few times...

and a cool bird

and along the road....I spotted a tree that looked like the classic tree some bird might live in....
and YES!!! look at this cutie!!!

and some Horseshoe Crab porn!!

We stopped to check out this beach at the end of the island and the parking lot looked really full....but then all of a sudden the parking lot was full of everyone running to their cars...and we are thinking what the heck is going on??? It was the 4:00 infestation of the Love Bugs! And no they are not cute at all!! they are ugly little black bugs and if you drive through a swarm of them...you need to wash your car within a day or so or it eats away at the paint!!!

So we turned around without getting out and headed to the
Mucky Duck for a
Coronarita!!
Margarita with a mini Corona!!!
Tastes like more than one!

follow that with a walk on the beach...

little shell hunting...that is not sand...it is all shells...

and another bridge and back home for our last evening in Ft. Meyers.
