On the move again....another 4 or 5 hours closer to New York....rained again last night...but by the time we awoke the skies had cleared and looks like it will be another fine day on the road.
Today is the day we will be heading into traffic...and I suspect we will see traffic now until we leave New York. We bypassed Washington DC this trip....we were a bit sad....but we would have had to stay almost an hour outside of DC.....and with Gracie.....we just decided it best to bypass it. We did spend 2 days there last time so we are okay with our decision.
We didn't recognize the name...First Landing State Park....but as soon as we drove in...it looked familiar. This is the tightest state park we have been in.....the roadways are narrow....trees everywhere...not a level site to be had....but for 1 night it will do...and it is close to the ocean...
Guess what we saw????
....more water and more bridges :)
But what we hadn't seen before was miles and miles and miles of Sage. Also seeing crops of wheat, corn and potatoes but nothing that smells like the sage....
Roxanne (gps) took us on a real secondary road....which was nice change from some of the highways we have been on and the real touristy beach towns with miles and miles of Crab Shacks and Beachwear and Mini Golf...
Here you will see the miles of miles of crops....Brick homes with the rocking chairs on the porch and the acres and acres of freshly mowed lawns so typical of "small town America"...
We stopped in Edenton....we had been here on the last USA Trip and while we love to see new things ...there is something about seeing a place you loved before....and seeing it again....I guess it brings back happy memories from your first visit and mixes them with the new memories and just makes them "a bigger memory" I suppose...
What I remember the most of this area is the trees....that are just living in the water....weird
And the weirdest of all.....a pier....
And not a single Fisherman???
We have not seen that before on this trip!!
