Heading North.....I cry a little inside when I think of going North....but it had to happen...

Only another few hours drive today...heading to Savannah, Georgia.  On our last trip we had only driven through... so super excited about being able to stay a few days.  Found a spot at Skidaway Island  State Park for three nights.  Weather will be mixed but so it shall be.

As they are super super strict here about check-in....even though it is pretty dead and our spots are empty...we must wait until 1:00....not a minute sooner.

So with an hour or so to wait we headed to the Wildlife Center to kill some time..

This is not roadkill.....after they fill up the bird feeders and birdbaths here....the squirrels cool down this way.....just like Gracie does.



or they just literally....hang out in the trees.

Just love the red and the blue birds here...

This guy was hanging out in the tree a few campsites away....pretty chilaxed when I walked by...

But when we walked by with Gracie...well that was another story...
turns out he likes to hang out here on a regular basis...


Campsites are huge and also they are only about half full right now, so very very spacious.


Went for a bike ride on one of the trails through the State Park...wasn't too much to see as I think the water it pretty low now so the waterways are quite far away.



But we did meet a this guy and his dog...and it turns out his name is Joe Holly who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons.  Turns out one day he realized he hated his job playing football....so he quit...and then he realized he really didn't like his girlfriend anymore...so he quit her...and then he realized he needed a life change...so he adopted a shelter dog...called the dog Freedom...gave away all his furniture to a organization like Transition House and bought a van....and is travelling the USA writing a blog/vog named Manvandogblog

The squirrels just taunt Gracie!!  There are so many of them here it's crazy.

It's been windy for quite some time....like weeks...this morning it's pretty calm...but they are calling for more wind in the afternoon..... Decided to ride our bikes into St. George and check it out...really small casual little beach city... More white sandy beaches....this time with lots of shells...spent a good hour shell hunting... We saw lots of crab holes in the ground...apparently they are called "ghost crabs" and they only come out at night and they are almost transparent.. I was so excited when I spotted this shell.....but somebody was inside... and this baby crab on the outside!!! They have these really cute "tiny narrow rental homes".... these are the first skinny homes we have seen!! Saw dolphins in the distance for the first time today....super excited....George has to "make me move one" ....because I could stay all day and watch them... Biked out on the fishing bridge....this one goes out qui...

Today is the day....we must leave New York....it`s been great... it`s been expensive....and it`s time to go... Gracie may have wanted to visit this place...but no Dog Spa for her... Today is also the day we will part paths with Brother Joe...we will head West....because we must....he will have another direction...we will miss him....has been a great time travelling with him. It took us almost an hour to wind our way out of Jersey City...it was raining...and I swear Roxanne had us going in circles....there was detour after detour...and some ridiculously narrow streets.....but we made it......we had no idea where we were...the skies were grey and dismal and we just seemed to be going around and around..... And then this crazy horrible sign appeared...WTF....WEST!!! What is that!!!! It wasn`t long before we left the busy streets for rolling hill of trees...it is just so green and so hilly.... I love this one...it`s the first we have ever seen...... ...

It's a pretty fitting day to leave the beach...it's raining....it's still warm...but it's still raining.... Taking a ferry today instead of dealing with the traffic...won't take any time off our trip...but will take the miles off our trip...cost wise...not too sure...but if it can eliminate a few hours on the road in the city...it's worth it. This bird decided to build a nest in the busiest place ever!!! Right at the Ferry Terminal... And all along the way....Dophins.....Yay!! I will never tire of seeing them playing in the water! So before long we are on the New Jersey Turnpike.... which just means .....toll....after toll.....after toll.... and you have no idea which lane you are supposed to be in... Nightmare! Marty!!!.... You will love this....... You know all those American dimes and nickels I was saving.... Finally had a chance to use them.... Oh the look on his face when I gave him $6.00 in dimes and nickels!!!
