We left the hustle and bustle of New Orleans behind. Today we left Louisiana and travelled through the the southern part of Mississippi and Alabama and finally...finally....finally... hit Florida...and guess what??  another bridge...an another...and another... to cover this great expanse of waterways and swamp land.

I did see my first few alligators in the swampy ditches along the highway...5 of them!!! they are so cool and so creepy!!


We have seen beaches... but the sand is finally getting whiter...and finer....and obviously more appealing to the Travelling Gnome!!! Thanks Shannon....he was holding out for the good stuff!!!

Gracie was loving it too...right after this George let Gracie off the leash...and OMG!!!! she started running and running...and wouldn't stop!!! She was running in circles and just going crazy!!!




And a little roll in the sand to celebrate!!

Heading into Biloxi Mississippi we noticed more of the mansions.  There are still so many waterfront lots that once had homes until Katrina and now just old "For Sale" signs remain.

The further east we travel the more whiter and expansive the beaches are....gorgeous!!!

Saw many wharfs along the way like this...just never rebuilt...

And this restaurant was NOT taking any chances for the next great storm!!

There are tons of large casinos here...mini Vegas...

And when not in the city...little back country "camo on camo"!!!

We drove on the outskirts of Mobile Alabama, looks like a really interesting city 
but no place for an RV.


Right out of Mobile we happened upon the Battleship Memorial Park.  It was pretty late in the day, not enough time to actually tour the ship, but enough time to have a wander around the area.










Then back inland and to the sprawling estates....beautiful...the green grass just went on and on...


and another bridge into Pensacola...and one beside this one being built...what an enormous task.  The cool thing down here is they will leave part of an old bridge and let people fish off of it.  

Welcome to the beautiful Emerald Coast....gorgeous....which is why it is so so so crazy busy.  Drove in on a Saturday evening...bumper to bumper....our chances of getting an RV spot for the night....diminishing...we haven't really booked anywhere because not too sure about our arrival dates ....but I think that is about to change...

Luckily we did get a spot at Henderson Beach State Park for 1 night....just as the sun was setting...feeling lucky for sure....we will see where we end up tomorrow.

It's been windy for quite some time....like weeks...this morning it's pretty calm...but they are calling for more wind in the afternoon..... Decided to ride our bikes into St. George and check it out...really small casual little beach city... More white sandy beaches....this time with lots of shells...spent a good hour shell hunting... We saw lots of crab holes in the ground...apparently they are called "ghost crabs" and they only come out at night and they are almost transparent.. I was so excited when I spotted this shell.....but somebody was inside... and this baby crab on the outside!!! They have these really cute "tiny narrow rental homes".... these are the first skinny homes we have seen!! Saw dolphins in the distance for the first time today....super excited....George has to "make me move one" ....because I could stay all day and watch them... Biked out on the fishing bridge....this one goes out qui...

Today is the day....we must leave New York....it`s been great... it`s been expensive....and it`s time to go... Gracie may have wanted to visit this place...but no Dog Spa for her... Today is also the day we will part paths with Brother Joe...we will head West....because we must....he will have another direction...we will miss him....has been a great time travelling with him. It took us almost an hour to wind our way out of Jersey City...it was raining...and I swear Roxanne had us going in circles....there was detour after detour...and some ridiculously narrow streets.....but we made it......we had no idea where we were...the skies were grey and dismal and we just seemed to be going around and around..... And then this crazy horrible sign appeared...WTF....WEST!!! What is that!!!! It wasn`t long before we left the busy streets for rolling hill of trees...it is just so green and so hilly.... I love this one...it`s the first we have ever seen...... ...

It's a pretty fitting day to leave the beach...it's raining....it's still warm...but it's still raining.... Taking a ferry today instead of dealing with the traffic...won't take any time off our trip...but will take the miles off our trip...cost wise...not too sure...but if it can eliminate a few hours on the road in the city...it's worth it. This bird decided to build a nest in the busiest place ever!!! Right at the Ferry Terminal... And all along the way....Dophins.....Yay!! I will never tire of seeing them playing in the water! So before long we are on the New Jersey Turnpike.... which just means .....toll....after toll.....after toll.... and you have no idea which lane you are supposed to be in... Nightmare! Marty!!!.... You will love this....... You know all those American dimes and nickels I was saving.... Finally had a chance to use them.... Oh the look on his face when I gave him $6.00 in dimes and nickels!!!
