Oh New Orleans....we were here back in 2013 and I was thinking that maybe 1 day downtown was enough....until we got there....then we fell in love with it again....and oh, it's just so captivating...

Uber'd in....Virgin Uber people here....but we did it...and Phyllis was awesome...$20 including the tip to get downtown from the RV Park...it was great...and Phyllis was great also....gave us a snip-it into her life...born and raised here...lived through Katrina working in a care-home....recounted moving all the people and themselves by bus to Houston and actually having to live there for over 6 months because nothing was left at home...and then  she realized....New Orleans was her home and she needed to go back...

So much character in these old buildings...they have been through so so much over the years...floods...hurricanes...tornadoes...Mardi Gras!!!



It's crazy that with all the storms that have been through here...and these big Amazing Trees have survived!!!


And it didn't take long before the music started...




And there are all kinds of people...doing their own thing to make a buck!!

There is just so much to see here...

Art in the park!! Gumby and Pokey!!!

and then more serious Art...There are so many talented people out in the world....and I guess every opportunity for artists to show their work is awesome! Theresa you would love it here...oh the art...the art...it is everywhere...and the trees....








And then there was music...there is just so much music here...it's really humbling to see how much talent there is here...artists...musicians...every corner you turn...more amazing people...




This is not a sculpture...it's a guy...making a good living...In the heat....painted GOLD!!! 

And then again...more really beautiful places...but watch where you are walking...these streets and sidewalks have been through lots.... and they show it...

We were wandering around and went into this "Metal Shop" and were looking around at this guys artwork ...which is amazing by the way


....and we happened to mention that we had been looking all day for beignets and lucky for us...he pointed us to the best beignets and coffee around....OMG...we have been craving these!!!





Not far from the French Quarter...new meets old...



The Tall Ships are in town...one was at our campsite and these were downtown and still more to come over the rest of the week and then a big festival over the weekend for these big guys!



Back downtown...it's starting to get busier...more and more people coming out to perform...buckets on the street to catch the money from the tourists...you need a pocket full of dollar bills...they are all so entertaining and talented..and some making money however they can...and it's great....do what you gotta do...

And even poetry....on the spot..in English..Spanish or French



We had seen this band when we were here in 2013 and we spent several hours listening to them....we would enjoy a beer....listen for bit...move on...come back....repeat...repeat...Whenever we remember New Orleans we would think of this band..
So we located the bar....but it was closed!!

Pretty bummed we moved on and then several hours later...happened upon the bar!!! and yes...it was open...and yes the same band was there! The DayWalkers




Back out onto Bourbon Street...drinks in hand...more entertainment.
This guy stands like this for soooo long...it's crazy!

and yes take a pic...money in the bucket! But so worth it.

$5.00 ...get your picture taken with the snake...NOT!

And if you have a few square feet on Bourbon Street....set yourself up a bar!! It's all an opportunity..

It's been windy for quite some time....like weeks...this morning it's pretty calm...but they are calling for more wind in the afternoon..... Decided to ride our bikes into St. George and check it out...really small casual little beach city... More white sandy beaches....this time with lots of shells...spent a good hour shell hunting... We saw lots of crab holes in the ground...apparently they are called "ghost crabs" and they only come out at night and they are almost transparent.. I was so excited when I spotted this shell.....but somebody was inside... and this baby crab on the outside!!! They have these really cute "tiny narrow rental homes".... these are the first skinny homes we have seen!! Saw dolphins in the distance for the first time today....super excited....George has to "make me move one" ....because I could stay all day and watch them... Biked out on the fishing bridge....this one goes out qui...

Today is the day....we must leave New York....it`s been great... it`s been expensive....and it`s time to go... Gracie may have wanted to visit this place...but no Dog Spa for her... Today is also the day we will part paths with Brother Joe...we will head West....because we must....he will have another direction...we will miss him....has been a great time travelling with him. It took us almost an hour to wind our way out of Jersey City...it was raining...and I swear Roxanne had us going in circles....there was detour after detour...and some ridiculously narrow streets.....but we made it......we had no idea where we were...the skies were grey and dismal and we just seemed to be going around and around..... And then this crazy horrible sign appeared...WTF....WEST!!! What is that!!!! It wasn`t long before we left the busy streets for rolling hill of trees...it is just so green and so hilly.... I love this one...it`s the first we have ever seen...... ...

It's a pretty fitting day to leave the beach...it's raining....it's still warm...but it's still raining.... Taking a ferry today instead of dealing with the traffic...won't take any time off our trip...but will take the miles off our trip...cost wise...not too sure...but if it can eliminate a few hours on the road in the city...it's worth it. This bird decided to build a nest in the busiest place ever!!! Right at the Ferry Terminal... And all along the way....Dophins.....Yay!! I will never tire of seeing them playing in the water! So before long we are on the New Jersey Turnpike.... which just means .....toll....after toll.....after toll.... and you have no idea which lane you are supposed to be in... Nightmare! Marty!!!.... You will love this....... You know all those American dimes and nickels I was saving.... Finally had a chance to use them.... Oh the look on his face when I gave him $6.00 in dimes and nickels!!!
