Last day in New Orleans today...Uber'd in again...our driver today was a young guy who is going to University for his Masters in English...nice guy...his 3rd day Ubering...always nice to hear people's stories....he wasn't actually here for Katrina...but had family and friends who were...and it took so long to recover from it but...he was here when Harvey hit Houston and had visited there one month after and he said you could barely tell it had been hit hard...he said Texas takes care of things fast...

So took Uber into the Garden District to Lafayette Cemetery...and it was closed today...for a funeral...so managed to get a pic through the gate...but that was all...

The Garden District is filled with so many really old and beautiful homes...

On to Magazine Street which has some really cool shopping and bars and restaurants.

And back onto the side streets to check out more old homes...

but always look down...and this is a pretty good sidewalk!

I would just love to live in an old house (refinished of course) with a beautiful front porch.....but we did not see a single person on a front porch......or a garden...???

This is the only guy we saw...amongst the Mardi Gras beads...

The trees are so big here...and the roots are so cool!!

We just noticed quite a few places like this...and it makes sense...
what else is there to do when you do laundry..eat and drink of course!!!

We walked a few miles today...great way to get a feel for a city.

The details on some of these old buildings.....so beautiful...

Then back to the French Quarter...and it is getting busy...
Friday night...things are starting to go down!!
Apparently 11:00 pm is when it really goes down....the Uber driver said the clothes come off then...

The ships are in town...

Back to our favourite bar to see our favourite band...

Love this business card holder.....dual purpose!!

Our Uber driver was great enough to drive us through Frenchman Street (which we unfortunately hadn't seen yet).  He said this is like the Bourbon Street 20 years back....lots of music...more locals...says the music goes on until 6 in the morning...I guess we will have to save that for next time.

And on the way back to the RV park....I notice these really cute houses....and the Uber driver informs me....looks are deceiving...t's the new Ghetto....there is a shooting there every night!!!

After Katrina they moved the Ghetto from Magazine Street to the other side of town...he said they live better than the white people out here now. Brad Pit and Angelina Jolie (when they were still together) took this on as their project...Make it Right

We also learned that Uber has only been here for 6 months...but is so popular.  Also if the driver's rating is 4.7 or under...they suspend them.  And the passenger is also rated!!! Yes  Rated!! If you are an *&^%$....you will probably not get a ride for quite some time or at all....they actually see your rating when the pick-up is requested.  It's so sweet....all done so quickly on an app...no calling...next to no waiting....pay on your phone by creditcard...tip on the phone....rate your driver....done!!!

Back at the campsite another Tall Ship has arrived and apparently they are sailing tonight...

And of they both went....draw bridge on a major highway goes up.......and away they go...
