Clear blue skies again. Drove into Borrego Springs, which was really in the middle of no where.  Miles and miles of desert and then you see the strip of green and you know you have arrived. Very quaint. It was a small town...a scattering of things around this green circle in town.

Stopped for some awesome pizza and cold beer before we scouted around.  This birdie was loving the fountain!!!

and this guy was really checking Gracie out!! That dog never took his eye off Gracie the entire time we were there....

The most amazing part of this town is the metal sculptures.  We only saw a fraction of them, but there are 130 in all, really quite crazy. They are placed all over the town.   Borrego California

Back on the road to the Salton Sea.  From the highway, it looks like miles and miles of white sand beach...as far as the eye can see....

But as you approach....something else hits you like a brick wall!!!

In the 1950s and '60s, Bombay Beach in California was a thriving resort. Guests swam, water-skied, and golfed during the day, then headed to the yacht club to party into the night and then it changed....Salton Sea

And the sight of this....FISH BONES!!! the entire beach consists of broken up layers and layers of fish bones....

And now it looks like this....fallen down houses...streets with Street Signs and the roads are paved with no houses anywhere.....It kinda looks like a bomb went off here and just flattened the place...

Some lots were being sold for $4980.....$90.00 down and $90.00 a month!!! Everyone welcome!!!

And a stark contrast to Salton City....was Palm Springs!!!
An Oasis popped up in the middle of the desert!!

Then on to PGA West which is a premier 2,000 acre golf and lifestyle community...and that it is. Totally amazing....all are gated communities and even the roadways were lined with palm trees and grass that looks as nice as the golf courses.  Not a blade of grass out of place.

While George and Joe were shopping in one of the clubhouses...Gracie enjoyed the green grass....

and someone got himself a new hat!!

Then on to the largest street market we have ever been to. Over 180 vendors!
